Subscriber's Code of Conduct

The following suggestions indicate acceptable behavior on the ENDARKEN electronic discussion group.
..

1. Never criticize without making a constructive suggestion, and always strive to present the suggestion in detail, and in a manner that is easily understood.  Always give the reason for each suggestion made.
2. If you agree to talk about something that a person said or did always agree, or disagree, with the specific thing that the person said or did.
3. Avoid criticizing any person.
4. Try to minimize conflict. 
No contact.  =>  No conflict.
5. Avoid being "personal" in your comments on matters being questioned or discussed. 
6. Focus your talk in a manner that promotes ideas, concepts, and/or systems of doing things, and getting things done.
7. Never call anyone a "liar." 
Never say that someone is "a liar."
8. When a person makes a remark that you know is not true, say:
"That [remark] is not true."
9. Do not make remarks to any people -- white or non-white

with the intention of being insulting. 
10. Do not belittle or try to embarrass people.
11. Try to be friendly.
12. Do not speak or act in such a manner as to promote hatred of white people.
13. No cursing.
No name-calling.
14. Admit your faults.
Admit your fears.
15. Don't confuse people.
16. Avoid hypocrisy.
17. Be reliable.  Do what you say you're going to do,
at the time and place that you said that you would do it.
18. Don't make promises that you cannot, or will not, keep.
19. Always say everything in a manner that will best promote justice and correctness.
20. If you are asked a question, and you do not know the answer to the question, always say you don't know.
21. When people ask you about yourself, avoid telling them anything unless they are willing to answer the same type questions about themselves.
22. Avoid persons whose conversations usually consist of "nit-picking" and belittling remarks about others.
23. Don't gossip.
24. Do not fight or argue with, and/or otherwise show hostility toward any person, because that person calls you a name, nickname, etc., that you prefer not to be called.
25. Call yourself by the name, nickname, etc., that you choose for yourself.  Call other people by the name, nickname, etc., that they choose for themselves.  Do not, call them by any other names, nicknames, etc. 
26. Respond to persons who speak to you in a gruff, uncouth, profane, and/or hostile manner by doing the following.
  1. Be Polite.
    ..
  2. Listen carefully to each word spoken.
    Do not comment on their statement(s).

  3. Do answer questions, and answer them politely.  Answer in a manner that is likely to have the most constructive result.

  4. Avoid answering or asking questions in a hostile or "smart-alecky" manner.
27. Do not depend on or ask others to "give you respect."
28. Stay focused on the flow of the conversation. 
Pay attention to who is speaking and to whom.
29. Do speak your mind.
30. Attack ideas, not people.
31. Each One, Teach One.
32. Do not use CAPITAL LETTERS [CAPS] in the Subject Line of an e-mail message.  Do not use CAPS, exclusively, in the body of an e-mail message.  Use CAPS only for emphasis.
33. Do not copy messages from any electronic discussion group to any other group, unless you have the expressed permission of the author(s) of the original message.
34. Do not send e-mail to the group that doesn't have anything to do with the current discussion, unless you are launching a new topic for discussion.
35. Do try to read this list of suggestions often and become familiar with them.
36. Observe the Rules of Netiquette

37. Follow the above suggestions at ALL times, not just on the ENDARKEN list. 

The ENDARKEN Subscribers Code of Conduct is recommended to help improve relations between people of colour, non-white people, specifically Black people, everywhere and at all times.

38. Be grateful.
